Independent
Private development. No venture advertising model, no growth-at-any-cost, no ad tech. The product is the chat.
About
EDEL — a small private messenger with public proof.
Edel is built by a small independent team, not by an advertising company. It is a 1:1 messenger with end-to-end encryption, no ads, no strangers and no message reading. Access is paid and invite-only; the money funds development and support.
What we are
Small, private, paid
Paid by choice
Invitation packages are one-time purchases. "Membership" means a one-time package, not a subscription. The money pays for development and support.
Verifiable
Every security claim is tied to an artifact you can fetch. See Verification for the full claim-to-artifact table.
Principles
What we optimize for
- Content stays on the device. The server relays opaque envelopes and deletes offline messages after a signed ACK.
- No Google Play Services. The Android app installs from a direct APK and does not depend on GMS.
- No open registration. A closed circle: access opens by paid invitation, so the network stays small and accountable.
- Honest limits. We do not claim a third-party audit we do not have, or "open source" while the repository is private.
Platforms
Android and web. No iPhone app.
Edel runs in the browser and as an Android APK. There is no Windows/macOS/Linux desktop app. There is no iOS app and none is planned: our threat model requires an OS we control and can reason about, and documented cases of data access at the OS level make iOS unsuitable for confidential messaging. This is our assessment and policy, not an accusation against Apple.
